Senior Orchestra Returns This Autumn with Michael Rooney
We are delighted to announce the return of our Senior Orchestra this September under the direction of Michael Rooney.
For the Autumn 2026 programme, the orchestra will work with Michael on The Spirit of Sligo Suite through a series of rehearsals leading to two special concert performances.
Autumn Programme
Sunday 13 September – Rehearsal, 5.00–7.30 p.m.
Sunday 20 September – Rehearsal, 5.00–7.30 p.m.
Saturday 26 September – Concert performance at the John Egan Festival, Ballintogher
Sunday 11 October – Rehearsal, 5.00–7.30 p.m.
Sunday 18 October – Rehearsal, 5.00–7.30 p.m.
Saturday 7 November – Performance of The Spirit of Sligo at the Orchestrating Festival Community Concert, in collaboration with Sligo Academy of Music
Registration for Existing Members
Existing Senior Orchestra members do not need to re-audition and can register directly for the Autumn 2026 project.

Spring 2027 Project
Please note that the Autumn 2026 programme is a standalone orchestra project.
A new Senior Orchestra project will run from December to April, when musicians will begin work on a new suite of music. A separate audition process for that project will begin in December.
We are looking forward to welcoming our Senior Orchestra musicians back and to an exciting autumn of rehearsals, collaboration and performance with Michael Rooney.
